Intro:
Are you wondering why your machine will not run and why all your values are suddenly zero? In today’s tech tip, we are going to go over how to properly load and save new or existing recipes on our equipment so you can prevent losing all your values.
Recipe Description:
First things first, when we mention the word recipe, we are referring to the collection of settings for the specific product you are running that you can access through your touchscreen. When you save that recipe, you are then able to quickly switch between products without having to manually change all the timers and other settings.
A common mistake that operators make when they go to save a recipe is that they forget to correctly save the recipe to the screen’s memory. Then, when they go to load a recipe, it overwrites the values in the screen to zero which causes the machine to stop working until all those values are set to an acceptable range. This of course can be a massive headache if you are in the middle of a packaging run and have deadlines to meet. Below are instructions to properly save a recipe based on which version you have.
Recipe Instructions:
Version 1:
Saving a recipe: Once the values for your specific product have been entered, highlight the line/number recipe you want those values saved to. Next, enter a name you want for the recipe. Once named, hit the “Read values from PLC” button. Then select the “Save recipe to memory” button.
Loading a recipe: Select the recipe you want to load from the list. Next, hit the “Write values to PLC” button.
Version 2:
Saving a recipe: Once the values for your specific product have been entered, highlight the line/number recipe you want those values saved to. Next, enter a name you want for the recipe. Once named, hit the “Upload from PLC” button. Then select the “Save recipe” button.
Loading a recipe: Select the recipe you want to load from the list. Next, hit the “Download to PLC” button.
